The commune of Duszniki Zdrój includes the south-western part of Obniżenie Dusznickie and considerable part of Orlickie Mountains and Bystrzyckie Mountains. The town itself is situated on Bystrzyca Dusznicka river and its tributaries - Podgórna and Jastrzębiak with Bramecka Woda. Duszniki Zdrój borders from east and north with Szczytna commune and from north-west with Lewin Kłodzki commune. Western and southern borders of the town run through the flat area of Orlickie Mountains and at the same time they create the state border with Czech Republic. Administrational borders of the commune include separated in space, isolated by forest complexes, building groups of various function-space structure, namely: town, spa, Podgórze, Graniczna, Zieleniec, Kozia Hala, Jamrozowa Polana and Wapienniki.The town consists of a whole living complex of Duszniki Zdrój including industrial and service area gathered around antique down town quarter. The spa consists of sanatorium-holiday-service buildings south from the town. It is surrounded by the forests of park character that create good isolation from the town and Podgórze.Town center and spa part buildings cover mountains' slopes and the Bystrzyca Dusznicka river valley with its tributaries. The flat river bottom, wide in its north part, narrows in the resort area and turns in the south into ravine type. The natural scenery of that part of the town is of piedmont character but area denivellings are big here. Slopes move into steep, arched hills that reach 560 - 775 meters above sea level. (Wzgórze Rozalia - 560m, Ceglana Góra - 611m, Miejska Góra - 607m, Ptasia Góra - 745m, Ołtarz - 650m, Stołek - 761m, Koniuch - 775m).Different, mountain character of scenery dominates in the whole area of the commune above the spa part. It is the area of unique landscape qualities. Covered with forest, Orlickie mountains range create flat top surfaces that go along the state border above which rise mountain tops that exceed 1000 meters above sea level. (Serlich - 1025 m, Zielony Garb - 1026 m, Orlica - 1084 m). Below, closer to Zieleniec, Podgórze, and Graniczna the valleys of mountain tributaries of Bystrzyca Dusznicka divide mountain range into separate ridges (Przyjacielska Kopa - 737 m, Sołtysia Kopa - 895 m, Mylna - 879 m, Borsuk - 843 m, Chybna - 775 m, Gajowa - 701 m, Jeleń - 801 m). Along the whole mountain length of Bystrzyca Dusznicka river it flows in a deep v-shaped valley that is the natural border between Orlickie and Bystrzyckie mountains. On this area fully natural, mountain scenery has been preserved. Bystrzyckie mountains enter the town in its north-east part. It is a part of covered with forest, arched mountain complex with the tops of Ptasia Góra (745 m above sea level)and Nawojowa (675 m above sea level).
